The broad, arc-shaped Playa Jacó sits in the center of the coastal region of Puntarenas, at the convergence of the Gulf of Nicoya and the great Pacific Ocean. You'll be just six miles north of Playa Hermosa, six miles south of Playa Herradura, and 13 miles south of Carara National Park.
Outdoor activities abound in Jacó, as visitors easily find opportunities for ATV tours, boating, kayaking, horseback riding, and deep sea fishing. But this laid-back resort town is all about the beach, whether you're building sandcastles, soaking in the sun, or paddling out to catch seven-foot waves.
The clean, calm, and scenic Playa Jacó is a favorite among sandcastle builders and sunbathers, whereas Playa Herradura to the north offers a more mountainous and tranquil landscape, as well as a 200-slip marina and 18-hole golf course. Perhaps the most famous beach among surfers, though, is Playa Hermosa to the south, which has hosted International Quicksilver Championships and the International Surfing Association World Surfing Games.
