Recent San Juan Islands guest reviews

The text message, email and other forms of contact gave us the wrong address. We tried to call customer service, but there was little cell phone reception on the island. It was dark by the time we got there, and the area was pretty much uninhabited when we arrived. My girl-friend had to pee, and we couldn't find a spot for her to relieve herself. After a long time, and trying many doors, we realized that we were stranded. It was a frightening spot to be in, especially with a full bladder. We couldn't dial out, because cell phone reception between our two different carriers was zero. We eventually ran into an older lady, who had a small dog and she told us that we were indeed at the correct address, sort of. She said we needed a suite number, or something that effect. She seemed scared when she realized my lady was about in tears and had to use the restroom. I don't think she wanted to open her home to strangers. The rest of the area (all these condo units, and the resort itself) was closed, there was no activity, absolutely no people until very late at night. We had to sit in the cold for a long time, and eventually, we were able to get a signal out, through her phone and after a long hold time, someone representing Vacasa picked up the phone. He had trouble understanding why we couldn't find our place. He helped guide us with a satellite view. We still couldn't make any progress though. I shared my print off, my email, and my text messages with him. We had been given the wrong information by Vacasa. I explained the customer service agent (who did a fantastic job) that my girlfriend can't regulate her body temperature, and she started to cry. The Vacasa rep had genuine empathy and scrambled to find a solution. He eventually figured out...no one gave us a unit number, ever. We never got it! So we had a pretty miserable time the first day. The second day, there was still some residual anger, and then we started to enjoy our trip a bit better. It took a few hours to re-regulate my girlfriends body temperature, and she basically just passed out. Vacasa needs to be much more careful with situations like this, esp in the off season, when there is no one to help, as the place was devoid of other people until much later at night (I think I saw some parked cars after 10 PM). Seriously, not cool. I'll be leaving an honest review of our time there. The location was amazing. We want to go back this summer between May and Sept, but we're kind of scared to rebook with Vacasa. If you go back through the notes, you can see where we weren't given a unit number, and basically were just stuck in the wilderness. I think everything else was awesome.

This house is insanely close to the ferry, 15 minutes from town, and 40 from Mt Constitution! We had a group of 9 stay here and everyone was able to have their own space but also comfortably gather together. The host provides plenty of silverware, plates, bowls, pots, and pans to be able to cook for the group, lots of towels, soaps, really anything you’d need. It’s an older house, but no huge complaints! Looks just like the pictures was an absolutely perfect weekend getaway

We spent two weeks here over the winter holidays. It was comfortable and spacious. The view was lovely- especially from the upstairs "study" area. Very convenient to Eastsound with its shops and restaurants. Very private and quiet.

Exploring the San Juan Islands

Travelers not accessing the San Juan Islands by air will board the Washington State Ferry at Anacortes (as a walk-on or with a vehicle) and make their way to the islands via the water, the perfect opportunity to experience the awesome beauty of Puget Sound up close. Spot nesting sea birds, iconic black and white orca whales, and even small boats full of researchers studying the sea birds and killer whales!

One of the first ferry stops is idyllic Lopez Island. At 15 miles long and 8 miles wide, it's mostly rolling hills and flat pastureland. For cycling enthusiasts, a weekend in a Lopez Island vacation home is a dream come true! The truly ambitious can take the 30-mile loop around the island that will take you, among other places, through Spencer Spit Park, Odlin Park, and MacKaye Harbor.

On peaceful Orcas Island, the picturesque town of Eastsound offers something for everyone—there's exceptional golf at Orcas Island Golf Course, while Moran State Park has over 5,000 acres of forest, and almost 40 miles of trails to explore. Guests staying in our Eastsound vacation homes can enjoy exploring the art galleries, shops, bookstores, cafes, and museums. Walking tours are also popular, as historic homes and buildings dot the quiet neighborhoods, some of the structures dating back to the late 1800s.

Whether it's a weeklong stay in a Lopez Island cabin or a weekend getaway in a vacation rental on Orcas Island, you'll feel infinitely well-rested after immersing yourself in Island Time in one of our San Juan Islands vacation homes or cabins!
