Fall and summer weekends are when the park is busiest, so plan your trip in November through April if you’re looking to avoid crowds.

Hit up the must-see spots. Rocky Mountain National Park’s popular scenic areas are along Trail Ridge Road and the Old Fall River Road, which wind through aspen trees and rivers. If you’re up for a hike, The Keyhole Route leads up Longs Peak, the park’s tallest mountain and there are a number of trails surrounding Bear Lake that offer stunning views of the peaks and Alberta Falls provides a magic natural scene. Whether by foot or car, take your time to watch for wildlife, with over 60 species of animals to see.
Get back to nature. Shake things up and sightsee from a horseback ride along the trails, with two stables located in the park. There are 50 lakes and streams open for fishing, as well as sport fishing, with required permits. In the winter months, you can explore the park by snowshoe and cross-country ski.
