Recent Gleneden Beach guest reviews

The house was in a wonderful location with beautiful ocean views for a girls trip. Loved the rocking recliners to just sit and enjoy the view. Didn't need to even turn the TV on! House was super clean and comfortable. Very nice and warm. Location was close to restaurants, but not within walking distance, especially in the rain. Beach access was just down the hill, but not easy access for those less nimble. Overall a perfect stay!

We love the simplicity of the home, it is an older home, but we still enjoy our time there, it was our second time. We can still open windows and hear the ocean and the view from upstairs is nice, still get to see the ocean is what we love.

Where is Gleneden Beach, OR?

Nestled just south of Siletz Bay, on Highway 101, our Gleneden Beach vacation homes are less than seven miles south of Lincoln City and about eighteen miles north of Newport. Surrounded by the beautiful Pacific Ocean on one side and a varied terrain consisting of craggy cliffs, sandy beaches, and shore pine forests on the other, this seemingly sleepy town offers much to locals and visitors alike.

Where to Eat in Gleneden Beach

Most of the dining and shopping in Gleneden Beach is found on or adjacent to the Salishan resort grounds, including a steakhouse and a cocktail lounge. A few other options in town include the popular Salishack Tavern, where you'll find plenty of locals hanging out while they savor some of the best hot dogs you'll ever eat, Mexican corn on a stick, and burgers over pool and shuffleboard. This long-standing local icon offers guests a fun time while imbibing their favorite affordable beers.

Another iconic eating establishment in Gleneden Beach is the beloved and award-winning Side Door Cafe, featuring locally-sourced meals and homemade desserts. Stop by for lunch or dinner (note that they're closed on Sundays and Mondays), and savor luscious soups, salads, pasta dishes, or sandwiches. For dinner, try a crab cake, oyster, or sirloin steak entree surrounded by decor created with reclaimed and re-purposed materials from buildings in Portland, like Multnomah Public Library and Old City Hall, as well as locally from the Lincoln City Police Station.

And if you don't mind driving just a ways, Lincoln City has a plethora of additional dining choices, ranging from four-star restaurants to laid-back burger spots.

Things to do in Gleneden Beach

After you finish dinner at Side Door, wander over to Eden Hall, a small theater that periodically hosts live music and other performances and is located in the same building as the restaurant. When it's nice outside, you'll want to venture out and spend some time on the beautiful and rarely crowded beach, a hidden gem for surfers, picnickers, kite flyers, and seals. For rainy day entertainment, Lincoln City is just up the road and home to a casino, an outlet mall, and a movie theater.

Part of the allure of this section of the Oregon Coast is its wildlife. Depending on the season, visitors can take a guided kayak tour of the serene Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge or embark on a boat tour from Depoe Bay, the whale watching capital of the Oregon Coast. Half an hour away, Newport's renowned aquarium showcases all sorts of sea-dwelling specimens (both local and exotic). And don't forget about Yachats, about 42 miles to the south, one of the coolest small towns in Oregon according to Budget Travel.

Just over two hours from Portland and an hour and a half from Salem, this laid-back resort community is ideal for lovers of blissful beaches, golf, and wildlife. Choose one of our Gleneden Beach vacation rentals for your next Oregon Coast retreat and revel in the varied possibilities sure to make your visit a memorable one.
