Just far enough out of town for it to be quiet to relax but close enough to restaurants to enjoy a dinner.

Highly recommend. Our family of four stayed in this cabin for 7 days. The cabin is in a quiet secluded neighborhood, which is close enough to the city but far from the noise of it. We loved that each level had its own queen bed and independent full bath. The kitchen has top level appliances and everything you need to cook meals if you desire it. Our kids loved playing ping pong or foosball whenever we were in the cabin and not out exploring Montana. The view from the porch was amazing, we ate breakfast outdoors almost daily and ended the days by the firepit. Lovely cabin, would definitely recommend.

I loved that it was isolated but woodsy. You can take a nice walk on the road safely. I also loved that it was simple, I only brought items to heat up as I really did not want to have to cook or do dishes but you could bring a campstove. It was very clean with nice furnishings with a very comfortable bed. No problems getting in with the code.

Where is Bigfork?

Perched at an elevation of 2,900 feet, Bigfork sits at the point where the Swan River flows into Flathead Lake. What was once a gathering place for Native American tribes and a major logging center is now an artistic lakeside town that sits just west of Flathead National Forest, 18 miles southeast of vibrant downtown Kalispell, 25 miles south of Glacier Park International Airport, and about 40 miles south of the entrance at West Glacier. If you're looking for something even quieter, consider our vacation rentals in the community of Lakeside or quaint Rollins, just across the lake.

Things to do in Bigfork

Nestled in Bigfork, Flathead Lake is a dream destination for avid nature lovers. With a vast expanse of almost 200 square miles, a shoreline of over 180 miles, and dimensions of almost 30 miles long and 15 miles wide, this glacially-formed lake is a breathtaking sight to behold. It offers a plethora of opportunities for fishing, swimming, sunbathing, and launching your own watercraft. To make your dream lake experience an unforgettable one, make sure to book a fishing charter with Big Sky Fishing Charters. This will greatly enhance your chances of catching a prize lake trout, which you can then cook in your vacation rental kitchen to create a lasting memory.

Choose from nearly a dozen trails in the Jewel Basin Hiking Area of Flathead National Forest, a 15,000-acre expanse popular among backpackers, anglers, and wildlife watchers. The nearby Bob Marshall Wilderness encompasses more than one million acres and is one of the most well-preserved mountain ecosystems in the world, full of waterfalls, alpine lakes, and jagged peaks.

Back in town, the Eagle Bend Golf Club has 27 holes with majestic views of Flathead Lake and the Swan Mountains. And the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, the alma mater of Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, celebrated its 57th season in 2016, bringing Broadway-caliber acting and singing to this scenic Montana town.

Day trips from Bigfork

No trip to a Northwest Montana cabin would be complete without a visit to Glacier National Park, one of the crown jewels of the national park system that sits just 41 miles north. The 50-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road is one of the nation's most iconic drives, as it passes over the Continental Divide at heights of up to 6,646 feet. Interested in stretching your legs on a hike or two? Consider the Highline Loop or the Grinnell Glacier Trail, both of which offer stunning views of the park.

Come winter, our Bigfork vacation rentals provide the added bonus of several nearby ski resorts, from the Blacktail Mountain Ski Area, 30 miles west, to the Whitefish Mountain Resort, 42 miles north. You'll find more than 1,000 acres of national forest land at Blacktail, chair lifts, the Independence Terrain Park, and ski trails that reach up to 1.75 miles in length. At Whitefish, you can choose from a total of 105 trails, five terrain parks, a skier/snowboarder cross course, and nearly 3,000 acres of skiable terrain.

Treat yourself to an unforgettable visit to Big Sky Country—reserve your stay at one of our Bigfork cabin rentals today.
