Make Michigan your next getaway

Sometimes called the “Great Lakes State,” Michigan is a part of the Midwest that has a little bit of everything. Detroit, Michigan’s largest city, is one of America’s most vibrant cultural hubs, boasting Motown music’s origins and a rich heritage of car history, among other markers. People from across the state and beyond venture out to Michigan vacation rentals for the chance to enjoy one of the four Great Lakes that touch the state, or perhaps one of its thousands of smaller inland lakes. Reserve your spot at a Michigan cabin or lake house rental, and you’ll have a front-row seat to all this lovely state has to offer.

Our stay in Glen Arbor was great, the view from our deck, living room and bedroom was awesome. It was an easy bike or drive into town. The place was clean and comfortable.

Such a lovely little house! Clearly a great deal of care has been put into making sure that this house is perfectly appointed. Everything was organized, labeled, clean, and of impressive quality. We absolutely loved spending time in the screened on porch. The yard was not actually very large, but it was nice to have for our dog. The location was also convenient as the house is within walking distance of downtown Saugatuck. Overall, it’s a wonderful property, and we would be delighted to stay there again!

We really enjoyed our spring stay at Lake Breeze. The house itself was more than enough for our family of 5 + pets - very spacious (loved those hidden beds!). The game room was such a hit (ping pong, air hockey, pool, all the board games, dvds, etc..) The hot tub was huge, luxurious... and what a view! The hot tub, decks - all have a beautiful, direct lake view (at sunset, we could see the Chicago skyline- just gorgeous) We mostly had the beach to ourselves. I'm sure it varies by season, but our kids wanted to spend all their time at the beach, hunting for rocks (way too cold to swim). I downloaded a free trial rock identifier, & we identified 178 rocks (we truly learned so much about rocks, & learned to identify so many without using the app) in just a few beach trips! They LOVED this. It became a competition for who found the rarest rocks. We also saw plenty of deer, groundhog (in the cliff rocks), squirrel, ducks, etc... I will say that it would be challenging for many to traverse down the rock cliff to access the beach. My husband has a broken foot, & he managed to come down once (he is wearing a medical boot). It would be tough for smaller kids or those not very able bodied- & tough to carry "stuff" back & forth. Maybe, at some point, stairs will be added, but we managed. Neighborhood was great for dog walking (lots of uphill/downhill intervals). Dunes were close, where we explored a couple of days. (kids loved the Dune Challenge + T-shirts) Chicago is an hour away, so we spent one day there. Lots of great food, sweets options. Had a GREAT time. A very unique, fun experience. Our kids (15, 13, 9) & adults left our electronics behind, but we did take advantage of the TV options & during our stay we watched these silly, scary movies : Critters (my 9 year old already wants to watch Critters 2), The People Under the Stairs, Maximum Overdrive, & Jeepers Creepers. We were on a scary movie kick, because that's what they like right now - but we've had the phases of PeeWeeHerman / Goonies / Lost Boys -- depending on your audience/ages - it's just fun to pick some old classics & relax in the evening (with the lake breeze next to you all) This trip was so much fun - many fun memories were made. Highly recommend this rental!

Michigan’s Great Lakes

With the southeastern corner touched by Lake Erie and the sparsely-populated Upper Peninsula bordered by Lake Superior, this state is surrounded by Great Lakes from end to end. Lake Michigan sits directly west of its namesake and is home to fantastic lakeside destinations like Harbor Springs. Folks venture out to a lake cabin on the shores of Lake Michigan for summer vacation, and there they enjoy the scenery of forested shores between long afternoons out boating on the lake. The other side of the state finds itself adjacent to Lake Huron, where there are plenty of lighthouses to be spotted and fish to be caught.

If you’re traveling to Michigan, you’ll want to book a comfortable cabin rental or vacation home. Once you’re feeling settled, you’ll be ready to explore all this amazing state has to offer.
