It was easy to book. They took care of us for the entire process

This condominium was great for our family Christmas gathering with a few minor and one major exception noted below. The location is great. It is close to the beach and walkable to the the commercial districts on the island. The layout of the condo was very good for our family of 6. The kitchen has all of the necessary cooking utensils, a great stove, microwave and oven. The laundry room was also well equipped. Due to the recent hurricanes, the elevator, pool, and hot tube were all inoperable. These minor inconveniences did not distract from our stay, however, I am sure Vacasa knew about these issues and should have informed us ahead of time. We were surprised at the lack of basic necessities in the unit such as hand soap, facial tissues, garbage bags, and salt and pepper to name a few. While there were plenty of dishes, warming coffee mugs in the microwave gave three of us blister burns. The glaze on the coffee mugs heated up much more quickly than the liquid. Be careful. Most problematic was the lock on the front door. At first, we were confused as to why we needed to input the front door code to lock the door when departing., as opposed to simply hitting the Schlage button and turning the lock. When returning on the afternoon of our fourth day (Christmas Eve), our son happened to hit the Schlage button before entering the code. Without entering the code, the door unlocked. Whoa! In the unit we had electronics, Christmas cash for our adult children and the unit itself had several TVs, etc. The island was swarming with contractors several of whom were operating daily near our unit. This was not a good situation. I called the local Vacasa #, but it was Christmas Eve afternoon and no one was there. I called the Vacasa hot line and they said they would send someone out. I knew it would be 2 days before someone came, and we were heading to my mother's for Christmas Eve dinner in an hour. Fortunately, a You Tube video with over a million views noted why the Schlage lock can open without entering a code. Improper installation. The video showed how to reinstall the lock correctly. Fortunately, we found a screwdriver in the utility room and reinstalled the lock correctly. When the Vacasa maintenance fellow showed up on 12/26, he noted that they have had problems with their locksmith installations. At any new rental, I will now always hit the Schlage button prior to entering a code to make sure the lock is installed properly. Without this problem, I would rate our stay "5-Star".
