Recent Honolulu guest reviews

The age of the building cannot be ignored, but the room itself was nicely renovated to modern studio vibe. For shorter guests, this property works well, but I had trouble hitting my arm on celling fan. I was able to touch the celling without stretching. I also hit arm and hip at bathroom sink when I position myself to toilet. I'm only 6', so anyone taller than I should be very cautious. We had a problem with shower drainage. It wasn't completely clogged, but it didn't catch up the pace of shower output. We were party of 2 and the second person had to wait about 10 minutes for drainage. I contacted to Vacasa service and they told us to use plunger. The only plunger I found was for toilet and I just couldn't do it. Related to the shower, the bathroom only has a passive exhaust (or we couldn't find the fan switch) so there's some musky smell for sensitive folks and you need a cooldown/refresh period after someone used the bathroom. When we arrived, there was no key to the laundry room despite the lease agreement says "Lost key fee of $100 will be charged." Vacasa connected us to the local team and they dropped off the key at our room. The shared laundry room is located at garage, and it's barely holding up. 2 washers and 2 (working) dryers at the time of our stay. They are not very well maintained. Each need $2 in quarters and no change machines on site. One of our balcony fence plates got rusty and need some attention. Beach umbrella was broken, but chairs were holding up. I'm glad that I brought USB AC adapters. I didn't need it when we stayed at a hotel, but this property definitely does need to bring own adapters. Location is great, but that makes us feel poor. The surrounding properties all look nicer than we stayed. All the kitchen appliances worked well. I am not sure if we stay here again, but I appreciate it exists. We learned a lot.

Every direction had great views and the high floor makes a big difference. Comfortable furniture and a great location in the middle of Waikiki. Vacasa was easy to deal with professional.

The proximity to Waikiki was fantastic. Shopping, food, beach, zoo, parks, all were close. Very clean. Would book again without hesitation. We were sad to leave.... and we left to go to Kauai!

Honolulu: the heart of Oahu

Honolulu is the state capital of Hawaii, as well as the urban center of the state's most visited island, Oahu. Historic Pearl Harbor marks one end of the metropolitan area while the lighthouse and rocky cliffs of Makapu'u Point rocky cliffs stand at the other end.

Surfers make the pilgrimage to the Oahu's famous North Shore, where the waves at Waimea Bay and the Banzai Pipeline provide some of the best surfing on earth. The cute small towns (and excellent local seafood) of the North Shore are an easy day trip from Honolulu.

Things to see and do in Honolulu, HI

The ancient sport of Hawaiian Koa canoe racing is alive in Honolulu, with the Hawaii State race held here every other year. There's always plenty to do outdoors - kayaking, snorkeling, and surfing are favorite water activities, while those more comfortable on land will enjoy amazing hikes like Leahi (also known as Diamond Head), which provides a rewarding 360-degree view of the island.

Honolulu is rich with history, and venues like the Bishop Museum and Honolulu Museum of Art put the island's legacy on display. Visit Iolani Palace, America's only official state residence for royalty, for another slice of the island's story. During March, the festive Prince Kuhio Commemoration Parade celebrates the preservation of Hawaii's native heritage.

From upscale establishments like the acclaimed Alan Wong's to trendy spots like Lucky Belly ramen, Honolulu's food scene is global, yet true to its roots. There's something for every palate here - just don't miss the chance to try authentic Hawaiian shave ice!

Honolulu's magic needs to be experienced firsthand. Whether you're looking for a serene spot on the sand or the height of luxury, this Hawaiian city has all of it and more. Book one of our Honolulu rentals and be one step closer to your dream vacation.
