This house is beautiful and just like the pictures. It was great having an elevator in the house to take you from the first to second level. We had no issues with the elevator during our stay. There was a fair amount of starter supplies/toiletries. They also have a propane grill available to use which was awesome. The location of the house is perfect, super close to tons of restaurants and of course RIGHT on the beach. The decks were great and all the outdoor seating was perfect for our party of 9. There is an outdoor storage box on the first level deck for beach things - we purchased some beach toys for our kids that we left incase others have kids who want to use beach toys during their stay. There is some black mold around the ceiling vents and around the fridge automatic ice/water dispenser (we did not use the ice or water dispenser on the fridge while we were here due to this). After we got our bags into the house, we hadn’t even unpacked yet and we discovered a dead “bug” as soon as we opened the door. After looking at it we realized it was a cockroach. We hoped it was a fluke, but then we found another. Within the first 2 hours we found 5 cockroaches and we contacted Vacasa because we were worried about unpacking our clothes etc. and them getting into our stuff. I sent them pictures of the cockroaches that we found and they verified that they were in fact cockroaches and local staff would be getting in touch with us shortly. I reached back out to them later that evening as I hadn’t heard from anyone and we still didn’t unpack our things, they said unfortunately they didn’t have a time estimate but someone would be in touch with us. Pest control came the next morning and sprayed the 1st and 2nd level. After that the issue did not get better, and the cockroaches just got bigger that we found. The cockroaches were HUGE. About 4 inches in length. We didn’t unpack any of our clothes because we were afraid of them getting into our stuff, so we kept everything in our bags and zipped them shut after getting out what we needed. We didn’t use any dishes without washing them first because we would open the cupboards and see cockroaches running through the cupboards. We couldn’t keep any food out (bags of chips etc.) that were opened because they could get into it. We had a box of cereal that we had opened that we rolled down to ‘close’ like you normally would and one got in there when we went to pour a bowl the next day. Keeping any food in the cupboards or on the counters was out of the question. We ended up eating out a lot more than we planned and spending more money on takeout because we couldn’t keep food out that wasn’t refrigerated. When using the bathroom at night we had to turn on lights or use our phone flashlight to scan for cockroaches. Yes the house is beautiful but the cockroaches were disgusting. We have stayed in Destin 8 times over the last 7 years and NEVER had issues with cockroaches until now.

We loved our stay at Palmetto Cottage. The beach is just a short walk away over the little lake and the water was so clear and calm. The beds were extremely comfortable which is such nice surprise. This house is so well equipped, we love coffee and there was a French press, Italian coffee maker, and a regular drip coffee maker. The bathrooms were so new and updated and felt so cozy and luxurious. The décor was also perfect. We bought fresh fish and shrimp at the local store and made delicious tacos. This is such a fabulous house, and we will book another stay very soon.

This was the best set up for us and we really enjoyed the stay. Everything was top tier from beginning to end.
