- The Skykomish and the North Central Cascades are a historic area for the Great Northern Railroad, built between 1889-1903 by John Frank Stevens, for whom Stevens Pass was named. Trains still pass through the area to this day, creating occasional noise as they pass through the area. Most guests find this a charming aspect of the home and the area. We provide earplugs as a courtesy for any sensitive guests.
