This sweet apartment is in the Providence Hospital area, less than 5 minutes away from the hospital itself and all the surrounding clinics and related businesses. It's on a quiet acreage, so there's no traffic noise whatsoever. The apartment is one large room, with a tiny kitchenette area at one end, divided off from the rest of the room with a pretty divider. There is no sink for washing dishes except the bathroom sink, which has very little counter space available for your grooming supplies, let alone for draining washed dishes. But honestly, that's the only "bad" thing about the place. There are large windows on one wall, looking out into the back yard and the woods. The windows give an airy, open feel that we liked a lot. The bed was queen size, and very comfortable to sleep in. I'm 5'2" and did find it a struggle to get into the bed, which was up quite high. Next time I'll bring a folding stepstool. There is a hot plate, a small microwave, a small refrigerator, and lots of dishes, glasses, coffee cups, and utensils to use. There is a coffeemaker, but you need to bring your own coffee supplies. There is a large trestle table for eating a meal, or doing paperwork, or just looking out the windows at the woods. The apartment has a good sized flat screen tv and access to Amazon Prime, Netflix and probably others. There are several overstuffed, comfortable armchairs in the apartment, one with a large ottoman so you can stretch your legs out and relax for a cozy evening of watching the fire in the cute little woodstove and maybe doing some reading. There are two walls of shelves, all holding an eclectic supply of books to peruse. There is perfectly adequate secure wi-fi. We found the place absolutely delightful, the owner is very friendly and helpful, and she and her housemate have a dog (Abby) and a large cat (Eddie) who manage the place and keep it safe at all times. (I'm giving a smile and wink here!) We fervently hope if we need to come back to Anchorage, we can stay again in this delightful place.

The condo is exactly as advertised. Clean, spacious, and downtown. Nice view of the sleeping lady and the stars at night. We will visit this location again! Thank you!

Anchorage is the portal to all things Alaska, and an Anchorage-area vacation rental positions you perfectly to explore the Last Frontier. Whether you’re here to ski, hike, or simply take in all the natural beauty, you’ll find what you’re looking for at an Anchorage vacation rental.

Things to do near your Anchorage vacation rental

Anchorage is the state’s biggest city, so it’s your best bet for restaurants and entertainment while you’re in Alaska. It’s also the gateway to various wilderness areas and mountain ranges, like Chugach State Park and Prince William Sound. In town, be sure to check out Anchorage’s array of waterfront walking and biking trails, like the beautiful Coastal Trail at Elderberry Park. Kincaid Park, a few miles out of town, is another great option for exploring.

Skiing and more at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood

Just down the road from Anchorage proper sits one of the area’s hidden gems: Alyeska Resort. This incredibly scenic ski area and resort village welcomes visitors in every season, with thrilling ski runs available during the snowy months. Alyeska and the town of Girdwood are basically synonymous, sharing territory and activities among the cabin and condo rentals in the area. An Alyeska visit isn’t just for ski season, though—it’s the perfect vantage point for helicopter tours, boat tours of Prince William Sound, and so much more. And you don’t need to stay in Alyeska to enjoy it: an Anchorage vacation rental is within easy day-trip proximity to all that Alyeska has to offer.
