Recent New Buffalo guest reviews

The treehouse was lovely--peaceful, quiet, and beautiful in the woods. We had trouble lighting the gas fireplace, but the local property troubleshooter fixed it that very day and was nice as could be. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Our house was tucked away in the woods and so cute. I would love to visit again in the summer so we could take advantage of all of the outside living spaces!
Franci D. | Oct 2024
Nice views from every lakeside room. Master bedroom really the best room in house for comfort and views with access to outdoors. Stairs between different levels as basement, kitchen, sleeping and entertainment areas are difficult for seniors and anyone with walking problems. Very nice neighborhood close to restaurants and shopping.

Where is New Buffalo, MI?

Harbor Country is the gateway to Michigan, especially for travelers heading northeast on Interstate 94. Just 70 miles from downtown Chicago, the town of New Buffalo is just moments off the highway, but feels completely separated from the hustle and bustle. New Buffalo is the largest of the eight communities that make up Harbor Country, offering plenty of activities for the whole family or just a romantic getaway.

Things to do in New Buffalo, MI

Visitors flock to our New Buffalo cabin rentals to slow down and savor the beauty of Lake Michigan. With the largest public beach in the entire Harbor Country region, this town is a popular spot for doing just that. Spend a sunny afternoon playing on the sand, use the launch area for a boating adventure, or swim in the waters. Lake Michigan is enormous, and it’s easy to forget you aren’t actually on the ocean as the wind gently whips up small white-caps.

Galien River County Park is a great spot for a morning jog, bird-watching stroll, or kayak adventure. Trails meander through trees and over marshland, and there’s even a playground for the kids to enjoy. In the autumn, it’s a stress-free way to access some beautiful foliage as the flat trails pass through tunnels of trees.

Be sure to stroll along the harbor—the largest in the aptly-named Harbor Country—and stop at the Stray Dog Bar and Grill. This New Buffalo staple rests right on the water, where you can watch the comings and goings of boats as you dine on anything from burgers to pizza to tacos. In the warmer months, the rooftop bar is open, where you can enjoy a cocktail paired with spectacular lakeside sunsets.

Lake Michigan’s Harbor Country is a truly special place. If you’re seeking respite from the hecticness of everyday life, book one of our New Buffalo vacation rentals today.
