It was a quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed the scrabble game that was there.

Our first morning we were lucky enough to have clear skies and see the sun rise over the snow capped mountains. We could see a good part of Mt Ranier!!! You are just feet away from “the seal show”. They are everywhere and are so fun to watch. We loved sleeping in that front room and one morning we were woken up by the seals barking. That was a first for us. We loved it for its funky decorations and retro vibe. I only gave it 4 stars because when we arrived, after traveling 8 hours and 1:45 am our time in cold rainy weather, the house was 53 degrees. We all had to go to bed in our coats and hats. Temperature is controlled and should have been “controlled” to a decent temp before we arrived. The rest of experience made up for it though. ❤️

We loved staying at this place. Clean and comfortable, well appointed kitchen, and a view of the sound and the city that was stunning both day and night. Not far from the Lynnwood area, with a fantastic assortment of restaurants and other shops.

A top Washington state destination for many reasons, Bainbridge Island is the place to be, especially in the summertime.

Where is Bainbridge Island, WA?

One of the larger islands in Puget Sound, Bainbridge Island is about five miles wide and ten miles long. Just a 35-minute ferry ride across Elliott Bay, west of downtown Seattle, Bainbridge Island attracts a diverse crowd of locals and out-of-towners alike. Though Bainbridge has many residents who live and work on the island, many also commute to Seattle via the Bainbridge Island ferry each day.

This island getaway has the unique advantage of being connected to the mainland via the Agate Pass Bridge. Built in the 1950s, this steel bridge replaced a car ferry service and now offers travelers easy access to the rest of the Olympic Peninsula, from Port Angeles to the Olympic National Forest.

Things to do on Bainbridge Island, WA

Bainbridge Island boasts year-round appeal as one of the best island getaways close to Seattle, and you'll love visiting any time of year.

In the summer, spend your days meandering through the quaint downtown area, window shopping in eclectic boutiques, or take advantage of being surrounded by Puget Sound and try your hand at sailing or fishing.

With miles of beaches, Bainbridge Island is the best place to be if you want to go beachcombing or take photos, and many of our Bainbridge Island vacation rentals boast waterfront locations and easy beach access so you can make the most of a sunny summer day.

Wintertime on Bainbridge Island is better suited for staying cozy inside, though a beautiful rainy day can make an outdoor excursion all the more enjoyable. If you want to get outside, a stay in one of our Bainbridge Island vacation rentals gives you the perfect excuse to hike, bike, or walk in the Bloedel Reserve or Fort Ward State Park.

During the evening, a selection of marvelous restaurants makes for an upscale night of fine dining. Afterward, you'll love experiencing Bainbridge Island's arts scene by getting tickets for a show at The Edge Improv.

Wine lovers will love the diverse selection offered at Bainbridge Vineyards or any of the island's other eight wineries. Spend a day driving around the island, sampling as many varieties as you can at the island's intimate wineries, or plan your visit around one of the wine festivals throughout the year - the Wine and Chocolate Weekend in February is always a good choice.

Bainbridge Island is known for its festivals and events! Stop by the local farmers market, or join the island's most famous annual bike ride. The Chilly Hilly bicycle ride each February kicks off the cycling season, and is "guaranteed to be hilly, probably chilly and always a heck of a lot of fun."

For a fun day trip, hop on one of the frequent ferry boats (locals refer to it simply as "the boat") for a quick, 35-minute trip to downtown Seattle. Wander around Pike Place Market, take a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel, or go shopping at Westlake Center.

The Pacific Northwest is bursting with possibility, and you'll get to be a part of it when you choose one of our exciting Olympic Peninsula vacation rentals as your home base. Grab your suitcase and pack your camera, your raincoat, and your sense of adventure - your vacation starts here.
