No matter what part of the country your vacation home is located in, severe weather and natural disasters can threaten your home and your guests' safety. Our local teams serve as the first line of defense in protecting your property from the impact of a natural disaster or severe weather event.

How we support your vacation home during severe weather or a natural disaster

Take immediate action

In the event of severe weather, our local teams will promptly take action. If it's safe, we will send our teams to your home to assist with necessary tasks including:

  • Securing outdoor furniture and plants
  • Locking all windows and doors
  • Sandbagging and tarping*

If your home is occupied and your guests are willing and able to help, we may ask for their assistance with these tasks.

During a natural disaster, we are committed to safeguarding your home and the well-being of your guests. If you are in an area prone to natural disasters, having essential supplies in your home can facilitate our teams in securing your residence efficiently and promptly.

*Sandbags and other items must be supplied by the homeowner.

Monitor local updates

Effective communication with owners and guests is crucial for navigating severe weather events or natural disasters.

Our central teams monitor an event using national weather management systems and local news updates. We track mandates passed down by local officials, such as travel bans, evacuations, or shelter-in-place orders. If there are major airport or road closures, or if necessities like gas or groceries are limited, we will keep guests informed so they can plan accordingly.

Take care of guests

As an owner, we will keep you informed about how we are accommodating our in-home and incoming guests during a natural disaster. As things improve, we will provide updates on any restrictions being lifted, any damages in the area, and when we can access your home to assess for any potential damage.

How does Vacasa help its communities during a natural disaster?

Our local teams are eager to assist the entire community during a natural disaster. We offer hands-on support, deliver supplies, help with repairs, and may even provide financial assistance to aid in the area's overall recovery.
