After following family to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and falling in love with the area, Sandra and Scott N. decided to purchase their first vacation home. That was just the beginning. They knew they wanted a robust investment portfolio consisting of more vacation homes. However their first experiences with an unreliable property manager made them hesitate.
Then they met Vacasa—just the partner they wanted to forge a bigger, brighter financial future.

At first, Sandra and Scott were nervous to move to Vacasa. They had worked with other vacation rental managers who wouldn’t pick up their calls. “With other companies, I’d have to chase them down whenever I just had a general question,” Scott said.
“One time—after many attempts at calling and emailing—I had to reach out to senior leadership at the company,” Scott continued. “All that just to ask if my friends could book a stay at our home.”
Right from the start, they noticed that Vacasa handled things differently. “Even at the beginning stages, our Vacasa team in Myrtle Beach kept us in the loop and always quickly answered our questions,” Sandra recalled. “That level of communication and transparency gave us the security to know that if anything were to happen to our home, they would let us know immediately.”
Now, as owners of three Vacasa homes—all condos in Vacasa-managed communities in Myrtle Beach—Sandra and Scott didn’t anticipate how well their three homeowner relations managers would collaborate with each other. “All three know what’s happening at each of our homes,” Scott said. “It’s like having a dream team on our side.”
And, if Sandra or Scott want to manage their booking calendars for personal stays? No more chasing, Scott said. “The Vacasa Homeowner app makes it easy to book a stay for our guests or reserve time for ourselves. Plus, I can monitor how well our homes are performing, see who’s booking, and more.”
They also appreciated the ways Vacasa technology elevated their experience in managing multiple properties and building out their portfolio. “As investors, I appreciate that the app tells me how much potential income I could miss out on if I were to book my own stays,” Sandra recalled. “I said to myself—wow! Even the app looks out for us.”
Another thing that impressed this duo—their local managers in Myrtle Beach didn’t simply tackle problems as they arose. They stopped them from happening in the first place.
“Even before our guests arrive, our Vacasa team has already saved the day,” Scott said. “So much of their work is really looking out for possible concerns and thwarting future issues.”
Sandra recalled the time when they purchased a new table and a plexiglass cover to protect it. Regina, one of their homeowner relations managers, spotted it in their condo.
“She immediately called us and advised us that a guest could cut themselves on the sharp corners,” Sandra said. “We’re grateful she pointed out the dangers in the details and that she was concerned for our guests. So we decided to take it out.”
“The preventative measures they make on our behalf are just endless,” Scott added. “Deep cleaning. Replacing the heater filter. Spraying for bed bugs. Cleaning behind the refrigerator. They do everything for us so that we don’t have to.”
And, when something goes awry, their Vacasa team is right on top of it.
“When our pipe froze and water leaked down into the unit below, our manager called us immediately to let us know,” Sandra said. “She told us about the problem, then got it fixed. Done and done. We sleep easier knowing they can handle anything that comes their way.”
Scott agreed. “If our local Vacasa team spots something concerning, they’ll tell us. When something goes wrong, they’ll handle it,” he said. “I never thought we’d feel this relaxed leaving our investment in someone else’s hands.”
For Sandra and Scott, investments matter. But, relationships matter the most.
It was a bad relationship with a previous property manager that drove them to sell off one of their properties after only nine months. “While we weren’t required to use this property management company for the condo, they had the ability to cut off our guests’ access to the onsite restaurant if we worked with someone else,” Sandra said. “Without a good relationship with them, we knew we had to get out of that condo.”
The tides changed after experiencing Vacasa. They knew they had found the missing piece in their portfolio.
“Before, we used to worry about so many things,” Scott said. “Will they take care of our homes? What about our guests? And all the other things—maintenance, bookings, marketing?”
“Now, with Vacasa, we’re totally at ease,” Scott continued. “Our properties actually flourish with them as our partners.”
What’s ahead? The couple is now eyeing vacation properties in Florida…but only in markets where Vacasa can be their manager.
“It’s been a great ride,” Sandra said. “We can’t wait for it to continue.”
