Recent Newport guest reviews

This condo is nestled at the end of the bayfront. Easily walkable to restaurants, but tucked away to have peace and quiet as well. The unit has great views and the King bed upstairs was very comfortable. The unit is outdated, but charming. Some areas of the carpets are pretty gross, but we feel the price reflected this.

Nothing fancy, but had most of the things we needed. My daughter and I had a nice trip and would visit again.

We enjoyed our time at this house. The wood stove was a great bonus for us on cold rainy evenings. It was great that is was dog friendly, however would be better if there was a fenced area for the dog to run. Security was not the best. Most of the windows and sliding door only locked via a piece of wood and some windows we were not able to open (per notes on the windows). We enjoyed the short walk to the beach and Historic Nye Beach area. If you do not walk up/down hills well then you would want to drive. However being on the hill gave a view of the city, ocean and even the bridge. The large windows gave a great place to watch the sunset.

Things to do in Newport, OR

While many towns along the Oregon Coast boast jaw-dropping views, uncrowded sandy beaches, and fresh-from-the-boat seafood, Newport is special because of the diverse ways visitors can spend their time; this makes it especially well-suited to families.

Kids will love exploring the Oregon Coast Aquarium, home to a large number of well-curated exhibits, including a giant Pacific octopus, seals, a seabird aviary, and even the ecosystem of shipwrecks. They might also enjoy visiting Mariner Square, home of Ripley's Believe It or Not! and a wax museum. A visit to the home of Rogue Brewing, dinner at one of Newport's upscale bistros or seafood markets, or a stroll through the galleries of the artsy Nye Beach neighborhood will suit more grown-up tastes.

Outdoor adventures in Newport

For the outdoorsy types, our Newport rentals just happen to be surrounded by some of the region's best parks and recreation sites. South Beach State Park offers guided kayak tours along Beaver Creek; Yaquina Head Outstanding National Area is home to one of the coast's most photographed lighthouses, plus hiking trails and tidepools. For more ideas, razor clamming and surfing opportunities are out of this world at Agate Beach.

Day trips from Newport, OR

Newport is just over two and a half hours from Portland, an hour and a half from Salem, and just one hour from Corvallis.
